Junior Lifeguard Club - Medallion/Cross Practice

Junior Lifeguard Club is a new adventure for your child. Participants aged 8-15 will be taught important skills for future lifeguards, including first aid, lifesaving decision making, leadership, as well as improving their fitness and endurance. This is a great way to prepare to take Bronze Medallion and Cross or if your child is looking for a new adventure in the pool!
Participants will receive a wall poster on which they can put achievement stickers to mark their progress through first aid, lifesaving and fitness skills. This will earn them their Canadian Swim Patrol levels (Rookie patrol, Ranger patrol aka Swimmer 7/8) along the way and more! Once swimmers have achieved their Ranger Patrol badge they are invited to join our Junior Lifeguard Club ADVANCED MEDALLION/CROSS PRACTICE LEVEL.
Prerequisites: participants should be able to swim 100 meters of front crawl, back crawl and breaststroke. For ages 8+.
Junior Lifeguard Club Levels:
- Beginner: first time in JLC, can swim 1 length (25m) by themselves, still needs some stroke development
- Intermediate: Completed Swimmer 6 or previous experience in JLC, Rookie patrol or Ranger Patrol
- Advanced: Completed Ranger Patrol or higher (e.g. Star Patrol, Bronze Star and up). Reviews lifesaving skills, continues to develop swimming fitness and fun.
- Medallion/Cross Practice: Bronze Star/Swim level 9 or above. For those wanting to prepare or practice their Bronze Medallion/Cross Skills and build swimming endurance. Participants can then move onto the full course (20 hours), or potentially challenge the courses (5 hours) depending on recommendation of the instructor.
**We are hoping to offer this level, and will open a waitlist to gauge interest. Exact time/length of program may shift. If we don't get enough interest we will provide the option to join the Advanced level at 3 - 4pm. Cost expected to be $220.**
Please contact programs@vancouverlifeguards.com if you have any question about this course or which level is appropriate for your child.
Cancellation policy: 5 full days notice required for cancellation with a refund. An administration fee of $25 will be assessed on all refunds.
Family Discount: multiple registrations for the same household will receive a 15% discount on the 2nd/3rd child.
There will be no class on Thanksgiving weekend - Sunday, October 12th.
