I really enjoyed this course and felt very confident in my knowledge towards the end. Excellent instructor … teaching in a way I can retain the knowledge well. Would recommend VLA as the instructors are very experienced and gave many tips and stories about various situations that may arise.

Sepherr is an AMAZING coach. So patient and so effective. The kids look relaxed and focused at the same time. We were lucky to have him!

My 13 year old was nervous/hesitant to take Bronze Medallion (worried he was too small and inexperienced compared to some of the older kids). Thanks to the excellent (and kind/patient) instructors and the excellent prep from taking Jr Lifeguards with Kate before this course, he was really well equipped and actually really enjoyed the course materials and delivery. He speaks highly of the staff/faculty and their clear instruction, support, and feedback.
I highly recommend any class/program from the Jr Lifeguard Assoc. and expect there are a lot of well trained, prepared and judicious young lifeguards on the horizon.

Our son loved the VLA private lessons. He learned a lot and enjoyed the instructions and guidance. Fabulous instructor.

Great program - kids have fun in and out of the water while learning.
Love that kids were graded not only on their current level, but were given credit for a higher level if they were able to complete/achieve the goal. Not sure if this is still the case anymore as we did not get back the progress report that we brought on the first day of class.

These classes are long but allow participants to show their commitment to life guarding and obtaining this level of training, and have the much needed time to learn and practice everything required. Highly recommend this and looking forward to Bronze Cross

Excellent program. My child is swimming with so much confidence. Very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and no pressure. The coaches are fantastic.

What a great program, Sammy loved it!
He moved to the intermediate after the first class because the age gap was too large between Sammy and the young kids. Teens generally dont wanna hang out with the very young kids. We’re happy there was room to move to a more appropriate age group

My kid is not very enthusiastic about this activity that is mandatory in our house, but he said the main instructor for this course was very nice and based on the class I observed, I was super impressed with what they were doing/learning (just wish they’d use a Vancouver rec centre pool-this is so far).
